It’s been nearly a year since we heard of dad’s murder. This year has been hell and it is still not over. I am coming to terms with not having dad around anymore. I still imagine that he will return but I know that it is just wishful thinking.
I want to ask a few questions to the Ogadenian people. What do you want? Do you want to be hijacked by Mohamed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hiromogee? Do you truly want to be free from Ethiopia or is it just for show. I have no political knowledge of Ogdaenia or the problems you face everyday, but what I do know is that it is not a good idea to have someone that is a dictator to speak for you on your behalf. From what I have seen and heard, it seems as though the murder of my father has not awoken the Ogaden people to the true reality of the ONLF. I hear that some people doubt that Mohamed Omar Osman planned to have my father killed. For many years he tried but did not succeed, but on January 17th 2009 he at last did succeed to kill Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal.
My father was just like the other men that died for Ogadenia but what makes his death different is that he died by the hands of the people he thought were his friends and allies. We never thought that it would be these people that would eventually kill my father. I heard that Mohamed Omar Osman ordered other Ogaden men to be killed and blamed it on the Ethiopians. How many has he killed and lied about? Who wants a man like this to be an advocate for the Ogaden people?
On Universal TV Mohamed Omar Osman tried to come across, as if he cares about the problems that face the Ogaden region, but he clearly does not. Thankfully he did not succeed at fooling us because we know what he is, a liar and a traitor. I didn’t know that the ONLF had a court system established and from what Mohamed Omar Osman said on Universal TV, it seem that anybody that doesn’t agree with his ideology must be killed. I now understand why he killed my dad. His jealous of Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal became a poison to him. My father had integrity and love for his people and that’s why he was killed.
I have spent nearly a year investigating the assassination of my father and now I have the evidence to prove that Mohamed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi and others planned and murdered Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal. I would like to inform the men, women, children and youth of Ogadenia; you need to decide what it is you want and how you are going to achieve it. It is up to you how you wish to live your lives but the criminals of the ONLF ought to not govern your decisions. I don’t know or couldn’t possible understand what you all are going through but Mohamed Omar Osamn will not help you to independence. Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal wanted to let his people chose the political destiny through referendum and decide which government and/or administration they wish to form and be a part of.However Mohamed Omar Osman wants to keep you slaves in your own country. I don’t want to lose all hope that Ogadenia will one day be an independent country, but I believe that if we don’t resolve some of our problems aboard and at home we will sadly not see the freedom we so crave.
I remember the many people that use to come and see dad and help him with his work, so you see there are lots of people that want to help Ogadenia. It is important that we don’t give up and that we remember the people that died for our freedom. I have always thought that it takes courage to right a wrong. An injustice has been done to Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal. Are you going to let this wrong not be corrected? If we take action against Mohammed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hirmogee then we send a message to the rest of them that no one gets away with murdering one of our own. I can understand that some of you have reservations but if we do not stand united and fight against these people then we will be destroy and it would only be our fault.
History has always shown what a bit of determination, valour, intelligence and commitment can achieve. Many wars have been won on fewer attributes and those of us that are fortunate enough to live in the west, would not be here today if men and women had not died for our freedom. My eyes have been opened by the tragic murder of my father and I see why dad fought so hard to get people to recognise that Ogaden men, women and children have a right to live in the own country. It is their birthright to grow up in the country they were born in. What gives Ethiopia the right to keep Ogadenia when it does not belong to it?
I think that it is the people of Ogadenia that do, people like Mohammed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hirmogee. These types of people are the ones that have given away our rights without us noticing it and we have let them. If we do not fight against these people that think that they can give away our Ogadenia then the future will become bleak.
Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal spent years studying the landscape, agriculture and people of Ogadenia. There are many people that are looking at Ogadenia and seeing what it can provide them in terms of resources for the future. It will be a sad day if generations of Ogadenia children are 5th or even 10th refugee. What is the prognosis of Ogadenia? Will we do anything to change this I hope so. There are amongst us people that act like they want to help Ogadenia but truly they are more interested in their egos be inflated and praised.
It pains me when I hear that there are still Ogadenian people with the traitor Mohamed Omar Osman and I feel sorry for these deluded people because he would only use you and then if you question him, he will get rid of you. Please do not think that Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal will be the only person that will be assassinated. I want to tell the mothers of the young men that are fighting for the independence of Ogadenia to keep their sons close and not let them fight for their country, because if my father was alive today and I knew what Mohammed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hirmogee were planning. I would do whatever it took to stop them getting involved in the problems that face Ogadenia. Nevertheless I know that dad would not have listen to me as he started this journey before I was even born and it was his life.
The beautiful thing about hindsight is that it is always too late to change anything, what is done is done. We cannot change the shock that we all felt when we heard that Dr. Mohamed Sirad Dolal had been killed and even worst the shock and disbelief that went through our community that it was Mohamed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hirmogee that had planned it and were hiding behind the Ethiopians. However I hope and pray that we do not let these heartless and ungrateful men off the hock. I remember the little things that dad use to say to me since he was killed, that with hard work persistence and concentration that dreams can come true. I believed him because he worked his way from having no education to been a PhD holder and the plight of the Ogadenian people on the political map. This was a man of great determination and I think that he has influence many of us to believing that we can make our dreams come true and hopefully we will one day be living in our own country. Many of you reading this article will think that I am just a bereaved daughter and that I should just move on with my life. But what you failure to see is that my father was murdered and not by the Ethiopians but by one of our own people who we trusted and thought that he was fighting the same fight as us. Therefore so that we don’t forget and so that Mohamed Omar Osman, Abdirahman Mahdi, Mohamed Ismaail and Cadaani Hirmogee will never forget that we know what they did and will never stop pursuing them.
Inaa lilaahi wa inaa ilaahi rajicuun At the time of writing this article I had just heard of the murder of the three men in Minneapolis. I send my deepest condolence to the family of these men. I was shocked at the brutal way in which it was done and the mystery surrounding the murders.
