»Renewal of the red terror movement in region five. By Mukhtar
The red terror movement was apolitical instrument used by the former
dergue government to silence and intimidate the will of the people. They killed, tortured people with open mind, now that movement was down by the EPDRF when it came to power and empowered the people of Ethiopia by endorsing a unique constitution creating ethnic federalism, this constitution was admired by a lot of nations. It’s appositive step taken towards the right direction. This constitution has paved away for the creation of nine regional states, Somali national regional state being one of them.

The constitution put in place every region to use its own ethnic language as its official working language. To be honest the EPRDF government has done its best to put in place the constitution, and be implemented by the stake holders that was the dream and the desire of the federal government of Ethiopia. It ploughed the necessary resources and technocrats in the region but to no avail. The other regions of Ethiopia have excelled and have registered sensible development that benefited there people, as opposed to the Somali region, a case in point can be raised to substantiate the labeled allegation. Other regions have the first or the second president, which is not the case with this unruly state of region 5. It has so far witnessed more than seven presidents. Really, we cannot accept this as we are to move on, in order to tackle more pressing issues of poverty reduction and increasing the per capita income of our people. Our regional leaders are not true to type, they have not conformed to their oath of allegiance, to follow and put in place, by adhering to rule of law and pursue what is inculcated in the constitution.

As observed the current government was the worst, the previous
governments were being blamed development, non the less, this one has several loopholes as it has poor record on human right, lack of development will and even tempering with the Somali culture. They have brought sever insecurity to the even to jigjiga the capital city, the headmaster of this region and his close nuclear families are holding the key ministries, even where there are not ministers they have the vice, is this fair? They have taken (security coordination office of the region, justice bureau, police commission, prison commission, and even the high court of jijiga zone. These are the only offices that are responsible for the security matters.
His security head Abdi ‘’Iley’’ is very dangerous to Ethiopian
government, to what is inculcated in the constitution.

He abuses his power by acting like a gang leader, he beats, tortures, and imprisons with out adhering to rule of law, and his conducts are not acceptable in 21st century.. When his moving in the town he acts like militia leader or as a janjawid leader, he uses battle wagons mounted with several vigilant solders on board who can stand at incognito to beat up any person they need, and drove to the highest speed possible and sometimes switching on the siren, that noise scarce pedestrian and traffic off road.

Any body that he corners is indicted as ONLF which is not true, but
instigating hatred and anarchy for Ethiopia. Of late the woreda officials were called for a seminar on how to effectively utilize government budget. When they finished their seminar some of them fall victims of Abdi Iley , he beat thoroughly the speaker of filtu woreda speaker and broke his lower right rib, we complained to the police commissioner Bashir, who clearly said I cannot do any thing or a case where Iley is a party, the matter was raised to the president, and the only thing he could do was to apologies. Iley promised to cover the medical expense of the victim and provide transport service, which has not done. Can promise less leaders be tolerated? If the former victims were being accused of ONLF, what about the speaker of filtu woreda?, the government of Lugubuur has marginalized the Degodia community, does he want them to join the anti peace forces which he created when he came to power?. There is no rule of law, due process, people are detained without trial which is against the constitution, the courts are not independent, and even they can’t give bail to those who deserve.
