»The Kelafo(Qalaafe) Town in ogaden. By Guled
Kelafo (also transliterated Qelafo and Au Calif) is a town in Ogaden Located in the Gode Zone of the Ogaden Region, this town has a longitude and latitude of 05�37¡äN 44�08¡äE and an elevation of 233 meters above sea level. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this town has an estimated total population of 14,242, of whom 7,522 were males and 6,720 were females.

It has a rich agricultural history at same time is one of the oldest towns in ogaden region and the home of some well known heroes.

During October 1961, the Kelafo was flooded with three meters of water. The Ethiopian Red Cross was amongst the organizations providing aid. The town experienced another flood on 7 May 1968, when a dam on the Shebelle collapsed, covering Kelafo with about 1.5 meters of water, which forced the 3,700 residents to evacuate.

Again it was two years ago when serious flooding conditions hit the kelafo area thousands had evacuated to the near towns while many had lost their lives.This week alone three deaths and thousands desperate for food and clean water after big floods hit rural and urban areas of kelafo.

The Kelafo People need help from the national and international NGOs and the whole Ogaden Communities in and outside the country.

This small town is one of those ogaden towns that the world’s attention is not on, had the media turned on it is focus, the international community assume media is not part of the Aid to Ethiopia given the facts that this regime has little to offer to it’s donors one had to ask why the westerners love to help human abusers the so called federal republic of Ethiopia.

Mercilessly conducted by ‘Ethiopian� Dictator Meles Zenawi, the Ogaden Genocide helps only the further radicalization of the peaceful and tolerant Ogadeni nation that for many long decades has been inhumanly oppressed within tyrannical Tigreyans. Ogadenis were never asked about their � most hateful and most inhuman � inclusion in the most repugnant African tyranny.

Expressing unprecedented brutality, Tigreyan army and and it’s militias have committed many crimes in ogaden burning towns looting people asking ransom to arrested ones.

History repeats itself same as the old time colony this regime is operating underground missions making untrue the outcry of this peace loving nation, misleading westerners so their Aid to Ethiopia not being stopped, part of the tactic is to hide the catastrophic manner in ogaden.

Challenge is to articulate my own city of kelafo I dare deeply to do so as I was born and bread there of course remembering there is part of story.

During 1992 we were told that small number of tigreyans are coming towards kelafe, elders well educated persons started way to prevent this new invasion,according to some leaders the new comers were not strangers, “they were from Ismael Jabarti Darad’s Brother� they said, It worked, well timed tactic from melesa zanawi and later years we found the leaders who misinformed the people of my town were paid agents by the Melesa team.

In kelafo and the whole region of ogaden we have (the must vote Election) any body who is not ready to vote should be ready for jail or death this election can hit the record (the world’s most do or die election) it is almost unheard of in our modern days.

Women, uneducated can tell “we know our votes are not counted what makes it must vote� they said “we know as usual the military will announce their list of election winners� they stressed.

Well known elder ones noted “why the government should spend million Birr to this election when we already know the winners� he was told to shut up.

This individual is unanimously in all aspects with the tigrays but some times words itself speaks out.

Coming election the list of the winners are ready there in the office of Melesa because natural winners can not do the same job.

Conclusion of this article never comes but ending this short piece is to declare that Ethiopia is starving the very people the claim as their Citizens, ogadens are not will never be part of Ethiopia and may allah help ogaden Somalis in all time.
