Petition Must be Signed by ALL Ogadenians

Dear Ogaden people,

I have been informed of a current petition concerning the plight of the Ogaden people. I have not until now heard of a petition that the Prime Minster of the United Kingdom has sanctioned for the people of Ogadenia to come forward and declare their human right to speak up about the oppression inflicted on their people by the Ethiopian government.

Here is the link to sign the petition

I am surprised that when I went onto the website to sign my name there was not that many signatures. Therefore I came to the conclusion that the Ogaden people are either not interested in stopping the oppression that is imposed by the Ethiopian government or they are not informed of it. So here is the link to sign up and be heard.

All the efforts that so many people have contributed through out the years, which so many have died for, would have been in vain if we don’t take up this chance of finally been acknowledge as oppressed people by the Ethiopian government. Then what is the point in telling the international communities that our human rights are being violated if when we are given the chance to be heard we don’t come out in droves and sign this God given opportunity.

The Ethiopian government has been killing Ogaden people for a long time, acts against humanity have been done towards these people and nobody has stopped this from happening. Then why are you not signing this petition so that your voices could be heard? It does not make any sense to me as to why so few people have not signed up.

I have been bought up on this cause and my father has died for it. I have always thought that the Ogaden people were genuinely been targeted by the Ethiopian government and that their basic human rights to live were begin violated. However since my fathers murder, I have sadly realised that there are very few people among them that are serious about this cause and work tirelessly to inform the world what is happening to these people. In addition, the majority of the Ogaden people that have been given refugee status around the world do not care about the plight of their own people and country.

I have observed these people for a long time and have been told that they are not interested in their own freedom. However, I would not accept this because my father was working so hard to bring freedom and justice for the Ogaden people. Since his death it is obvious that the Ogaden people do not want to help alleviate the suffering of their fellow country men and women. Furthermore, the killing of Ogaden men, women and children is not felt by the Ogaden people around the world because they abdicated their right to call themselves Ogadenians.

The world has given these people refugee status and in some cases nationality. I believe that these countries have done so because they realise that the Ogaden people are being oppressed and their human rights are being violated. However, they themselves don’t see this and think just because they have been given refugee status or a nationality the nightmare that was their life is not anymore and so the poor people they have left behind is no longer their concern.

I have been a quiet supporter of the Ogaden cause since I was a child, my father use to take me to protests and conferences and during that time I saw a lot of people and thought that there was a lot of support for the cause. Moreover, I use to hear a lot of people talking about how the Ethiopian government was oppressing the people in Ogadenia, so I thought that what they were saying was true and when my father showed me lists of women that were raped and killed I believed him.

Therefore when my father was murdered I saw another side to the Ogaden people and came to the conclusion that It was my fathers dream that I have been seeing all my life and it was not the dream of the Ogaden people to be free from oppression, so you see it does not surprise me that so few of you have signed up for this petition.

I think that if my father had been alive today and saw this petition it would have excited him and driven him to get as many people to sign it as possible before the deadline because he believed that the Ogaden people had a right to live in their country without been oppressed and dreamt of a free Ogadenia. But sadly his people did not feel the same way and it’s my opinion that the Ogaden people enjoy talking about their human rights being violated but don’t actually believe they deserve the right to be free.

There is an English expression that says ‘support the underdog’ and I think that the people of Ogadenia want to always be the underdog and not succeed in their so called cause. If you think I am being too harsh to these people just observe them and see how many of them sign up for this historical petition.

The foundations of this cause was started years ago by so many people that it has reached a stage of where the international communities are now willing to listen and hopefully hear us. It is so simple to add your name to this important petition and sign it. I pray that you will change your ways and hopefully it will not be too late to do something for your people.
